SourceMiddle Point is a free recreation site in the Powell River area with Ireland Lake about 1.5 km away and paved access to the turnoff. The appeal is straightforward: water nearby and nothing to pay.
Plan to be self-sufficient here, with drinking water, a stove, and a way to carry the garbage home.
Supplies mean a drive. Lang Bay is about 16.3 km out and the Shell about 15.9 km, so stock up first and keep the tank above half. The E-Branch and A-Branch cabins are about 11.9 km and 12.2 km away, useful markers if you are working out a loop through the backroads.
