SourceA couple of hundred metres from the water, Gwen Lake Recreation Site keeps 2 vehicle spots on the western shore in the Merritt area. Anglers and hunters use it most, and a small cartop launch gets a boat onto the lake, which is about 0.2 km from camp.
Camping is first come, first served, and this is no place for a big rig: the road in is 4x4 country and the spots are tight, so truck campers and tents fit best.
Fuel is about 11.7 km away and Coldwater 1 about 7.5 km, so do your shopping before you head up. The Iron Mountain bike trails are about 5.7 km off, the Harmon Lake interpretive trails about 6.2 km, and the Kane Valley cross country ski parking about 7.4 km.
