SourceA former estate of 360 hectares became Fintry Provincial Park, and it keeps more than 2 km of waterfront, a natural sand beach and a canyon behind it where Shorts Creek drops through a run of waterfalls and pools. The Canyon trail is the walk to do, and bighorn sheep turn up on the higher ground.
The park lists 190 sites, part reservable and part first come, first served, on paved roads, with fire pits, pit toilets and drinking water. Swimming, fishing, paddling and hiking all start from camp.
Fintry is 0.6 km away and the nearest fuel about 10.6 km, so top up before the turn in. Cochrane Lake is about 6.7 km out, and Vernon's 209 mountain bike trails about 23 km.
