About this site
SourceDiscovery Island Marine Park is Victoria's paddle-to campground: launch at Cattle Point by the Oak Bay Marina, cross past a sensitive seabird nesting area, and pitch a tent in the big open field southwest of Pandora Hill. Seals, sea lions, otters and bald eagles are regular company on the crossing.
Facilities are deliberately spare: a pit toilet, an information shelter, a self-registration box for fees, picnic tables and two raccoon caches, which tells you what to do with your food. Swimming, fishing and hiking cover the days.
Oak Bay is about 6 km back across the water, so this is a bring-it-all trip despite the city skyline behind you.
