SourceMorice Wilderness Area covers about 6,300 hectares outside Houston and gets used all year: cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ski touring to an alpine cabin, then mountain biking, fishing and paddling on Silverthorne Lake.
The campground is small against all that ground. Nine sites, first come, first served, reached by gravel road.
Houston covers groceries about 7 km away, and the Co-op Cardlock sits just short of that, so fill up on the way through. The 21 mountain bike trails around town are the same short hop from camp, and McKilligan Lake is about 10 km out.
