About this site
SourcePilot Bay Provincial Park is the safest harbour on Kootenay Lake, the bay boaters run for when summer storms roll down the water. The bay itself warms up nicely for swimming, and some of the best fishing for trophy Gerrard trout is close by.
Camping comes with pit toilets and fire pits, a boat launch, and an extensive hiking network along the Pilot Peninsula, including the easy walk to the restored historic Pilot Bay lighthouse. Mostly a marine-access park, it can also be reached by road.
Kootenay Bay is about 5 km away, with the nearest listed fuel about 5 km at Crawford Bay, so land support is closer than it feels out on the water.
