About this site
SourceSaltery Bay Provincial Park has been putting people on the ocean since 1962, split between a rocky-beached day-use area and a campground set in old, quiet forest at Mermaid Cove. At low tide the shoreline opens tide pools of starfish, urchins and crabs; offshore, divers visit a 3 m bronze mermaid on the bottom.
About 42 sites are listed, a mix of reservable and first come, first served, on paved access, with swimming, fishing, hiking and a boat launch. Killer whales and sea lions sometimes pass within sight of shore, and shell middens speak to a much older human history here.
Lang Bay is about 11 km away; the nearest listed fuel is about 22 km, so fill up around Powell River first.
