SourceMaple Grove Recreation Site earns its keep with a south-facing beach on Cowichan Lake that holds the sun late into the evening. Paddling and swimming are the main events, and a boat launch handles boats up to 14 feet.
The site has 83 first come, first served sites on gravel access, easy for RVs. The fee is $20 a night, cash only, and the site has on-site supervision through the season.
Youbou is about 7 km away and the nearest listed fuel about 6 km, so forgetting something is not a disaster. Fishing rounds out the shortlist when the wind comes up on the lake.
