SourceThe creek that gives Elk Creek its name runs right past the site, and the forest around it is open enough to wander through without a trail. There is one anyway, on the south side of the access road.
It is 7 sites, first come, first served, on gravel, small and shady, which is most of the appeal.
Fuel is unusually close at about 0.7 km, and Sayward is about 8 km away for the rest of it. Santa Maria Lake is roughly 3 km off and Big Upper Elk about 11 km.
