SourceCal-cheak Recreation Site tucks 63 campsites into four areas between Callaghan Creek and the Cheakamus River, a short drive from Whistler at a fraction of resort prices. Many sites take larger units, and the gravel access road is short.
Everything is first come, first served with no reservation system, $18 a night from May through October. Hiking and biking start at camp, the Whistler Interpretive Forest is about 5 km away, and Alexander Falls makes an easy outing at about 8 km.
Whistler Village is about 12 km for anything you forgot, with gas about 8 km. The lift-served Whistler Mountain Bike Park is about 12 km, and the Lower Brandywine Meadows trailhead about 6 km.
