SourceAn old orchard shades most of Shingle Bay Campground, in the Victoria area, and the tent pads under the fruit trees are big and gravelled. There are picnic tables, a vault toilet, a kiosk and food lockers for anything that smells like dinner.
There is no drinking water, so carry your own. Sites are capped at 5 people and 2 tents, and hammocks are welcome as long as you keep them off the fruit trees, oaks and arbutus.
Roe Lake is about 0.6 km away. Fuel at Driftwood Auto Centre is about 2.3 km out and Mayne, about 7 km off, is the nearest town for a real shop. Farther afield, the Stoney Hill trailhead is about 20 km and the Cowichan network's 149 trails about 29 km.
