About this site
SourceBugaboo Provincial Park is the name climbers say with reverence: glacier-sculpted granite spires in the Purcell Mountains, many topping 3,000 m, drawing alpinists from around the world. This listing covers the backcountry camping that serves them.
The Conrad Kain Hut, run by BC Parks with the Alpine Club of Canada, is the traditional basecamp below Snowpatch Spire, built to keep impact off the fragile timberline. Expect pit toilets and potable water and nothing more; this terrain suits experienced, well-equipped climbers and hikers only. The road in follows rough resource roads where high clearance is recommended.
Spillimacheen and the nearest listed fuel are about 34 km away. Cobalt Lake sits about 5 km up, and Bugaboo Falls about 9 km.
