About this site
SourceJuniper Beach Provincial Park protects a true desert pocket along the Thompson River: sagebrush, prickly pear cactus and juniper over deep post-glacial deposits, between Cache Creek and Kamloops. Both national railways run past, which train watchers count as a feature.
About 32 sites are listed, a mix of reservable and first come, first served, on paved access, with river swimming, fishing, boating and photography filling the days. Historic Hat Creek Ranch and Ashcroft Manor make easy outings.
Walhachin is about 7 km away and the nearest listed fuel about 10 km, so it is worth arriving topped up even on a highway trip.
