SourcePaarens Beach Provincial Park is the kind of park locals would rather keep quiet: a small campground on the southwest shore of Stuart Lake with a long, wide sandy beach that rarely feels crowded. Change houses, picnic tables, a log picnic shelter and a playground make the day-use area genuinely useful.
About 42 sites are listed, some reservable and some first come, first served, on paved access, with a boat launch onto the big lake and swimming off the sand. Fort St. James, about 8 km away, adds its deep history to a rest day.
