About this site
SourcePirates Cove Marine Park on De Courcy Island shelters one of the southern Gulf Islands' favourite anchorages, with two dinghy docks and a natural harbour that earns the name. Kayakers, boaters and swimmers share the cove; trails and beaches fill the rest of the day.
The history is stranger than fiction: this was the homestead of the Aquarian Foundation, the cult led by Brother XII, who persuaded thousands of followers to hand over their possessions before it all collapsed. First Nations use of the island runs far deeper still.
Camping comes with pit toilets and potable water. The nearest listed fuel is about 10 km back toward Vancouver Island, so provision before you cross.
