About this site
SourceElkhart Lake was logged in 2009 and 2010 to clear pine beetle killed trees, so what was heavy forest is open ground now. The camping area sits above the lake, with a short trail down the slope to the water.
Three sites, first come, first served, on gravel in the Merritt area. Fishing is the main draw.
The Elkhart Gas Station is about 4 km away, which is unusually close for a site like this, so fuel is the one thing you do not have to plan around. Bankeir is about 21 km out for anything more, and Bobs Lake about 3 km away.
