SourceSkimikin Lake Recreation Site is a large, semi-open campground near Salmon Arm with a twist: one side is set up for horses, with corrals ready to use. The lake itself is 300 m from camp.
The site has 57 first come, first served sites on gravel access. Fees run $18 a night from April 15 to October 15, cash only. Swimming, fishing and a boat launch cover the water side.
Tappen is about 8 km away and fuel about 7 km. If you ride, the Shuswap trail network, 173 trails of it, starts about 15 km away, which turns this into a solid basecamp.
