SourceFishing is what people drive in for at Premier Lake Provincial Park, on the west slopes of the Rockies in the East Kootenay. Premier is the big one, with Canuck, Yankee, Cats Eye and Quartz smaller and set apart, and the ridge above the lake is winter range for elk, deer and bighorn sheep.
The park lists 61 campsites on gravel access, with fire pits, pit toilets and potable water. Swimming, hiking, biking and a boat launch round out what is here, and Douglas fir and western larch shade most of it.
Skookumchuck is about 11 km away, but the nearest fuel is roughly 23 km at Wasa, so come with the tank full. Canuck Lake is about 6 km from camp and Wildhorse Warm Springs about 21 km.
