About this site

Source

The south end of Catala Island Marine Park is a wilderness camp for people arriving by kayak or boat, out in Esperanza Inlet on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. Sand beaches sit below a forest shaped by ocean wind, and rough trails run inland to the island's lake and bog.

Expect a pit toilet, fire rings and nothing else formal. Swimming and fishing are the reasons to stay put for a day. Anchorage at the Rolling Roadstead is comfortable in calm conditions and rolls with swell when the wind comes up.

Zeballos is about 23 km off and the nearest fuel about 30 km, which makes this a trip you provision fully before leaving the dock.
