About this site
SourceKettle River Recreation Area straddles its namesake river between the Okanagan Plateau and the Monashees, in open country of ponderosa pine and bunchgrass. The old Kettle Valley Railway right-of-way, finished in 1916, runs straight through the park and gives the place its history and its walking.
About 114 sites are listed, some reservable and some first come, first served, on paved access. Summer is for canoeing and inner-tubing the river, though it carries real hazards worth respecting; winter turns the park over to cross-country skis and snowshoes. Old gold and silver mine workings sit on the east bank.
Rock Creek village and fuel are about 6 km away, so resupply is quick.
