About this site
SourceStrathcona Park was designated in 1911, making it the oldest park in British Columbia, and at more than 250,000 hectares it fills much of the centre of Vancouver Island. Snow lingers on the peaks, and lakes and alpine tarns are scattered across the landscape. This listing covers the backcountry side of it.
About 160 sites are listed, a mix of reservable and first come, first served, with pit toilets, potable water and fire pits at camp. Hiking is what most people come for, with the Marble Meadows trailhead about 13 km away; fishing, swimming, biking and a boat launch round it out. Carter Lake sits about 2 km off.
Gold River, about 28 km away, has the closest listed supplies and fuel, so stock up before the park road.
