SourceThis listing covers the backcountry side of Golden Ears, one of BC's largest parks, just over an hour east of Vancouver beyond Maple Ridge. Behind the busy frontcountry the terrain turns mountainous and genuinely rugged, with a big network of hiking and horse trails leading into it.
The park's three drive-in campgrounds hold about 435 vehicle sites between them, a mix of reservable and first come, first served, and Alouette Lake handles the swimming, canoeing, boating and fishing before or after a trip into the hills.
Services are thin close by. Stave Falls, the nearest listed community, is about 31 km away and so is the closest gas, so sort out fuel and food before you commit to the park road.
