About this site
SourceMcdonald Lake Recreation Site sits in semi-open forest in the Atlin area, small and set back in the trees, with a boat launch at the water and fishing as the main activity.
Four units take tents, RVs and trailers, first come, first served. The road in is rated 4x4, so check your clearance before you commit, and load up on supplies before the last stretch.
Surprise is about 13 km away. The Ruby Mountain trailhead is roughly 12 km off and Ruby Creek about 10 km. The old workings are close too: Boulder Dam about 9.5 km, with Discovery and the Dredge and Flume both around 13 km out.
