SourceHowes Lake does camping differently: the sites are scattered along the eastern shore and split across 7 separate access points, so you are not looking at your neighbour's awning. Fishing is the reason most people make the turn.
Eight sites in total, first come, first served, on gravel. The first one has been cleared of pine beetle trees and replanted, so tread lightly around the young growth.
Soda Creek is about 12 km away, and the Sun Valley pumps sit right by it, so one errand covers food and gas. Williams Lake, with 173 trails, is about 28 km on.
