About this site

Source

The Kettle Valley Railway is the reason to camp at Chute Lake. The old rail grade runs past this rustic camp up high, about 15 km from Naramata, and the surface swings from hard-packed gravel to loose ballast, which is why street bikes have a bad time on it.

Four sites, first come, first served, with 4x4 access and the lake about 0.6 km away. There is a motor restriction on the water, so plan on paddling. The site is user-maintained.

The nearest fuel is a Husky about 14 km off, so make that your last stop before the climb. The Smethurst Staging Area, another way onto the rail trail, is about 10 km away, and the Smith Creek trails at West Kelowna about 18 km.
