About this site
SourceCamping right on the water of Howe Sound, the most southerly fjord in North America, is what sets Porteau Cove Provincial Park apart. A ship was sunk offshore to give divers something to explore and to draw marine life in, and the park keeps facilities for divers on shore.
There are 60 campsites on paved access, a mix of reservable and first come, first served, with fire pits, pit toilets and potable water, plus a boat launch, swimming, fishing, hiking and biking. Know before you book that the rail line runs alongside the park and trains do come through.
Furry Creek is about 1.5 km away, but the nearest fuel is roughly 16 km at the Squamish Valley Gas Bar, so fill up before the exit. Lost Lake is about 2.7 km out, the Lions trailhead about 10 km, and Squamish with its 293 mountain bike trails about 16 km.
