SourceThe reason to come is the whale rubbing beach: a hiking trail runs from camp to it, with a viewing platform and hydrophones to listen in on. The campground sits above a steep cobble beach of drift logs and kelp, in the Port McNeill area.
There are 30 sites, the campground runs on reservations, and the access is paved. Water at the tap is not potable, so bring drinking water or a way to treat it. There is a boat launch, usable only at high water.
Sointula is about 4.4 km away for supplies, with the Co-Op gas bar about 5 km, and Big Lake also about 5 km out.
