About this site

Stein Lake Camp is one of the wilderness campgrounds in the Stein Valley Nlaka’pamux Heritage Park, in the Lytton area. The park protects the whole Stein River watershed and the Nlaka’pamux history held in it, and Stein Lake sits about 1.3 km from camp.

This valley is maintained by the people who use it rather than by staff, so plan on being fully independent and ready for whatever conditions turn up. Around 150 km of hiking trails and routes run through it, with cables and a suspension bridge for the river crossings, and most trips here are measured in nights rather than hours. Camp itself has a pit toilet, and the lake gives you fishing and a boat launch.

Supplies sit a long way back. Sachteen is about 28.5 km off and the nearest Chevron about 42.5 km, so shop and fill the tank well before you reach the trailhead.
